Winston is my Betta fish that I got to live at my office about a year ago. He moved to my cubicle in the English department when I did, but he had to come home for winter break. I couldn't commit to going to campus enough times to feed him. Unfortunately, we have a predator at our house. I have seen this cat jump in the air and catch a low flying bird in his mouth. Let me stress here that this is not an exaggeration. I was sitting in my hammock in the front yard and watched this happen. Not a joke. Not taking poetic license. That is exactly what happened.
Anyway...so Winston came home and I set up his residence on top of my reasonably high dresser. My cat never goes up there and by pushing the bowl up to the wall and putting it between my jewelry box and our antique clock, I figured nothing could go wrong. Ha! I was awakened in the middle of the night by the cat using MY BODY as a launch pad to get up to the dresser. He knocked things over. He didn't care.
I yelled, he ran, the next day I covered the fish bowl opening with plastic wrap. Surely that will stop him. Ha!
I found a hole in the plastic wrap. Asshole.
So Winston moved to the office because it is the warmest room in the house and I was concerned that Winston might be a bit chilly. Also, the office has no hiding places and we can shut the door and keep kitty out at night. (If you try to keep Minke out of the bedroom it sounds like the apocalypse is coming..)
Things have been going well, although kitty found him again and likes to stare at him. I was sitting in the office today and witnessed this series of events:

Yeah...Winston must be kept under close watch.
